Property Manager
Property Management AssociatesManaging three properties across a combined 94 units isn't a sprawling portfolio, but it's not a lightweight assignment either. At that scale, you're close enough to the operation to know every problem before it becomes a complaint, and accountable enough that there's nowhere to hide when things slip. This role with Property Management Associates fits that profile: a hands-on, live-on-site position covering conventional multifamily in Long Beach.
What the Day Actually Looks Like
Your morning probably starts with a walk. PMA puts real weight on preventative maintenance and daily property inspections, which means you're developing a feel for each asset rather than waiting for work orders to tell you what's wrong. From there, you're juggling leasing activity, coordinating maintenance staff and vendors, managing delinquency, and staying on top of reporting in Yardi Voyager. Voyager proficiency isn't a nice-to-have here. It's the operating system for the job.
Because you're living on-site, the line between work and off-hours is softer than most PM roles. On-call status and one weekend day per week come with the territory. That's an honest trade-off, and the compensation reflects it: $23 to $25 per hour, a free one-bedroom unit, and a $300 monthly auto allowance. A valid driver's license and proof of insurance are required.
What PMA Is Looking For
- At least three years of conventional multifamily property management experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with Yardi Voyager
- Proven leasing and marketing ability, including closing traffic into signed leases
- Experience supervising maintenance staff and scheduling vendors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Solid command of Microsoft Office and general computer fluency
- Valid driver's license with clean DMV record (DMV check is part of the screening process)
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment physical
PMA has operated in the greater LA County market for over 30 years across residential and commercial assets. At a company that size, a manager who performs well on a 94-unit portfolio tends to have a clear path toward larger or more complex assignments. The structure here rewards people who treat the role like an owner would: watching the details, communicating proactively, and keeping occupancy and collections tight without waiting to be asked.
Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance with employer contribution, a 401(k) with discretionary company match after one year, short and long-term disability coverage, supplemental plans, and paid vacation, holiday, and sick time.
