Property Manager

Onsite property manager roles in Southern California often spread candidates thin across a single large community. This one works differently: you'll oversee three separate properties totaling 87 units in Pasadena, which means daily variety and a real ownership mentality over a small portfolio rather than one building.

What the Day-to-Day Looks Like

Property Management Associates needs someone who can run the full cycle. That means morning walk-throughs across the properties, tracking preventative maintenance items, coordinating with your maintenance staff and outside vendors, and handling unit and property inspections. You'll also carry the leasing side: showing units, running competitive rent analyses, and keeping occupancy where it needs to be. Delinquency follow-up, notices, and the operational paperwork that keeps everything moving are all part of the job.

You'll live on-site in a provided one-bedroom apartment. One weekend day per week is required, and on-call availability comes with the territory. A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required. PMA provides a $300 monthly auto allowance to cover the multi-site driving.

What You Need

  • At least three years of conventional multifamily property management experience
  • Working knowledge of Yardi for property accounting
  • Ability to supervise maintenance staff and schedule vendors
  • Demonstrated leasing skills, including market analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication; solid command of Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license and current auto insurance

Background check, DMV check, and pre-employment physical are required before hire.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay runs $23 to $25 per hour, plus the on-site apartment and auto allowance. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance with an employer contribution, a 401(k) with discretionary company match after one year, short- and long-term disability, supplemental plans, and a generous PTO package covering vacation, holidays, and sick time.

One thing worth noting for candidates considering this role: managing three separate addresses rather than one sharpens your operational instincts fast. You'll build skills in portfolio-level thinking, multi-site vendor coordination, and independent decision-making that translate well into regional or area manager positions down the line. PMA has been in business over 30 years and promotes from within, so the growth path is real for someone who performs.
