A tenant calls about a billing discrepancy. A vendor needs a contract reviewed. A new tenant is moving in and needs onboarding paperwork. That's a Tuesday morning for the Property Administrator at Prometheus Real Estate Group's Walnut Creek commercial office. This role sits at the center of daily operations, and it moves fast.
Prometheus is the largest privately held apartment owner in the Bay Area, with over 13,000 units across Silicon Valley, Portland, and Seattle. Their commercial team manages a separate portfolio, and this role supports that operation out of Walnut Creek. The scope is wider than a typical admin position.
On the financial side, you'll code accounts payable, review accounts receivable, handle rent billing, track operating expenses, and monitor budgets for accuracy and variance. You'll also prepare and review contracts and maintain insurance policy records. Basic accounting knowledge is expected. You don't need a CPA, but you do need to read a ledger and catch errors before they become problems.
On the operations side, you're the first contact for tenants, vendors, and visitors. You manage the office itself, including supplies, team coordination, and policy documentation. You'll also support the broader commercial team with reporting and administrative tasks as they come up.
This is a full-cycle administrative role. Financial accuracy and strong communication carry equal weight here.
Compensation runs $33.50 to $42.00 per hour depending on experience, plus a discretionary annual bonus. Benefits include fully company-paid medical, dental, and vision (dependents included), 401(k) with employer match, 12 paid holidays including your birthday, tuition reimbursement, and tenure-based housing discounts, among others.
Strong candidates in this type of role tend to be people who treat financial accuracy as non-negotiable and who communicate proactively rather than waiting to be asked. The volume of interruptions in a commercial property office is real. If you lose focus every time the phone rings, the billing reconciliation suffers. The people who thrive here manage both without letting either slip.
