Community Manager

It's a Tuesday afternoon and a new resident stops by the leasing office with three questions, a broken work order request, and a flyer about the community event you're running next week. You handle all three before lunch. That's a fair picture of what this role looks like at Wendover's Rochester Park community in Brooksville, Florida.

What This Role Covers

This is a part-time, on-site position running roughly 20 hours per week. The work touches a few different areas, and that variety is both the appeal and the demand of the job. You'll support leasing activity, which means helping with tours, applications, and follow-up documentation alongside the Community Manager and Assistant Manager. You'll also own the community's activity calendar: planning and executing resident events, tracking participation, and building local partnerships that give the community a real sense of place.

Beyond events, the role includes coordinating concierge-style requests, working with third-party vendors, and keeping common spaces and model units presentation-ready. On any given shift, you might field calls, process paperwork, respond to resident communications, or walk the property to confirm everything looks right. Administrative support is genuinely part of the job, not an afterthought.

Wendover Management operates affordable and workforce housing across the Southeast, and Rochester Park fits that mission. Residents here aren't a demographic to manage. They're the reason the job exists, and the team treats them accordingly.

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Background in property management, leasing, or customer-facing service preferred
  • Comfort with Microsoft 365 and property management software
  • Working knowledge of social platforms, including Meta and TikTok, for community outreach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and self-directed enough to manage a calendar and keep multiple tasks moving without being micromanaged
  • Reliable transportation for occasional local errands or marketing runs
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stay active throughout a shift

The physical piece matters here. This role requires walking the property, entering units, and staying on your feet. Comfort with that kind of active, hands-on work is necessary, not optional.

One honest note on fit: the people who do well in community engagement roles tend to be genuinely comfortable switching gears mid-task. You might walk in planning to finalize event logistics and spend the first hour handling a stack of resident requests instead. Flexibility isn't just a soft skill here. It's how the work actually gets done. For someone who enjoys variety and direct contact with residents, this role offers exactly that. For someone who needs a predictable checklist every day, it'll wear thin quickly.

For candidates early in a property management career, this kind of part-time role builds real cross-functional exposure. Leasing support, resident relations, vendor coordination, and administrative work all show up here. That breadth makes it solid groundwork for a full leasing consultant or assistant manager position down the road.
