Multi-Site Community Manager
Hawthorne Residential PartnersIt's a Tuesday morning, and before 10 AM you've already reviewed last night's delinquency report, coached a leasing consultant through a difficult prospect conversation, and fielded a maintenance escalation from a resident whose work order fell through the cracks. That's the rhythm of this role, and if that kind of pace sharpens you rather than drains you, keep reading.
What This Role Actually Covers
Hawthorne Residential Partners is bringing on a Multi-Site Community Manager based out of Village Lofts in Greensboro, NC. This is a full operations role, not a leasing-forward position with a manager title attached. You own the financial performance of the community, including budget management, rent collection, deposit accounting, and delinquency tracking. You set leasing and renewal strategy, monitor occupancy trends, and make pricing decisions that affect NOI directly. You'll work inside Yardi and Knock daily, so comfort with both platforms matters.
On the people side, you're the one hiring, onboarding, and developing your office and maintenance teams. Weekly team meetings, performance coaching, and accountability conversations are a regular part of the job. You're also the last stop for escalated resident concerns and the person responsible for maintaining the community's reputation online and in person. Vendor oversight, property inspections, curb appeal, common area presentation: all of it runs through you.
What Hawthorne Is Looking For
- At least two years of multifamily experience, including time as a Leasing Consultant and Assistant Community Manager
- Six months of experience in a Community Manager seat, strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Yardi, Knock, and Microsoft Office suite
- High School diploma or GED required; CAM, CAPS, or a real estate or property management license is a plus
- Valid driver's license
The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM, with one weekday off each week to keep hours at 40. Some evenings and weekends come up around resident events or community needs.
Compensation includes base salary plus monthly leasing and renewal commissions and quarterly performance bonuses. Benefits cover medical, dental, and vision plans, a 401k with company match, paid time off including your birthday, paid parental and adoption leave, pet insurance, company-paid life insurance, and 24/7 telehealth access.
From a career trajectory standpoint, the Community Manager seat is where the most transferable skills in multifamily converge. You're reading financials, managing people, driving occupancy, and interfacing with ownership. The managers who move into Regional roles fastest are the ones who treat every quarterly review as a presentation opportunity and build their assistants into the next generation of site leaders. Hawthorne runs a formal career path program that supports exactly that kind of progression, so the infrastructure for advancement is already in place if you're willing to use it.
