Maintenance Technician - Part-Time
Redstone ResidentialPool chemistry, a working knowledge of HVAC basics, an eye for curb appeal, and the willingness to handle whatever a resident community throws at you on any given shift. Those are the skills this part-time maintenance technician role draws on most. At Redstone Residential's Provo properties, you're keeping a community presentable, functional, and move-in ready without the luxury of a full maintenance crew behind you every hour.
What the Work Actually Looks Like
Most of your time splits between two things: keeping the grounds and common areas in shape, and supporting apartment turns so each unit is in its best condition before a new resident walks in. That means punch list work, trash and debris removal, landscaping basics, and making sure the clubhouse and hallways don't quietly embarrass the property. Pool service and maintenance is a real requirement here, not a nice-to-have. If you've never balanced a pool, this isn't the place to learn on the fly.
Emergency response is part of the deal too. Part-time doesn't mean low-stakes. You're expected to know the procedures and act accordingly when something goes sideways after hours or on a weekend.
- General repairs and preventive upkeep across the property
- Apartment make-ready support and turnover coordination
- Grounds maintenance, including irrigation and landscaping care
- Common area cleanliness: clubhouse, hallways, office, model unit
- Pool service and ongoing maintenance
- Emergency response per established procedures
- Communicating curb appeal and maintenance issues up the chain promptly
What You Bring
At least a year of relevant experience is the floor, and property management background puts you ahead. Strong attention to detail matters more than people expect in maintenance work. The resident-facing part of this job is real. You're not invisible on a property. Residents see you, talk to you, and form opinions about the community based on those interactions. Customer service isn't just a bullet point here.
Physical requirements are legitimate: lifting up to 75 lbs. and staying on your feet for 8 to 10 hour shifts. If that's a concern, it's worth knowing upfront.
Working at Redstone
Redstone manages over 38,000 beds across 20 states, with a portfolio that spans student housing and conventional multifamily. They're one of the larger third-party management operators in the country, which means their systems and training tend to be more formalized than you'd find at a smaller regional shop. For a part-time technician, that structure can actually be useful. Clear procedures, documented expectations, and a Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager you can escalate to when a problem outgrows your scope. The 401k with up to 6% matching is a notable benefit for a part-time position.
This role suits someone who's reliable, takes pride in how a property looks, and can work independently without someone checking on them every hour. In maintenance, the properties that stay sharp are almost always the ones where the ground-level team actually cares. That's what Redstone is looking for here.
