Maintenance Technician - Full-Time
Redstone ResidentialThe call comes in at 7 a.m.: a unit needs a make-ready punch list completed before a new resident moves in that afternoon. You walk the apartment, work through the list, and the place looks right by noon. That's the rhythm of maintenance at a student housing property, and it's a skill set that compounds fast.
The Day-to-Day Work
Redstone Residential operates more than 38,000 beds across 20 states, making it one of the larger third-party student housing management companies in the country. This full-time hourly position sits at their Statesboro, Georgia property and covers the core work of keeping a residential community functional, clean, and well-presented. That means handling general repairs, responding to resident maintenance requests with urgency and care, maintaining curb appeal across grounds and common areas, overseeing apartment turnovers, and being the first line of response when something goes wrong. You'll coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager when issues go beyond routine scope, and you'll follow established procedures for emergency situations. Landscaping, common area upkeep, and unit readiness before move-ins all fall within the scope of this role.
Compensation is $20.00 per hour. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, 15 days of PTO plus 10 paid holidays, paid parental leave, three paid service days, a 401(k) with up to 6% matching, short-term disability, and both an Employee Assistance Program and a Professional Development Program.
What You'll Bring
- At least one year of relevant maintenance experience; property management background is a plus
- Basic to working knowledge of maintenance systems and repair practices
- Strong attention to detail, especially during turns and move-in inspections
- Customer service skills that hold up under pressure and with real residents, not just in theory
- Physical ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. and sustain 8 to 10 hour shifts on your feet
Student housing operates on tighter turn windows than conventional multifamily. When a lease cycle ends, hundreds of units often need to be made ready within a compressed timeframe. Technicians who learn to work efficiently under that pressure, while keeping quality consistent, build a reputation that travels. From this role, the natural progression moves toward Maintenance Supervisor, then Service Manager, and eventually into regional or facilities oversight. Each step up asks for more coordination and less wrench time, so the interpersonal skills you build here, communicating clearly with residents and management alike, matter as much as technical ability. Redstone's size across multiple states also creates internal mobility opportunities that smaller operators simply can't offer.
