Experienced Field Maintenance Technician (3+ Years Required)
LessenWhat You'll Actually Do
This role puts you in the field across a residential portfolio, owning work orders from receipt to close-out. That means diagnosing the issue, sourcing materials within budget, executing the repair, and documenting everything cleanly. Lessen operates at significant scale, completing millions of work orders annually across a large vendor and technician network, so the expectation is that you work independently and move efficiently without sacrificing quality. The company has made a deliberate call to prioritize quality over volume, which means you're evaluated on how well you resolve issues, not just how many tickets you close.
You'll manage your own budget per work order, coordinate with clients when needed, and be the person on-site who represents the standard. A fleet vehicle and fuel card are provided, so your territory is workable without out-of-pocket logistics headaches.
What You Bring
- At least 3 years of verifiable, hands-on experience in property maintenance or a related trade. This is a firm threshold, not a suggestion.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair across multiple trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, appliances, or similar.
- Comfort managing budgets at the work order level and making sound material decisions in the field.
- A solution-first mindset. When something unexpected comes up mid-repair, you adapt rather than escalate every decision.
- Clean documentation habits. Lessen's platform is tech-driven, so your notes and work order updates are part of the product.
What This Role Builds
Lessen has a defined path from Field Technician into Lead Technician and Field Maintenance Manager roles. If you want to stay technical, that's a valid track. If you want to move into supervising other techs or managing a regional territory, the infrastructure is there. The company is expanding nationally, so early technicians in a given market tend to be well-positioned when leadership roles open locally.
The skills you'll sharpen here, specifically budget management at the work order level and multi-trade diagnostics across a diverse portfolio, translate directly into more senior maintenance operations roles at either a third-party management company or an in-house maintenance department. Technicians who get fluent in work order platforms and client communication tend to advance faster in this industry than those who are purely skilled with tools but less comfortable with the administrative side of the craft.
The schedule runs weekdays with no on-call rotation, which is a meaningful quality-of-life distinction in a trade where after-hours and weekend emergency calls are the norm at most companies. The role also includes a monthly tool and cell phone allowance, OSHA training, and a quarterly discretionary bonus of up to 5% of quarterly earnings.
