Maintenance Technician - Full-Time

Maintenance Technician

Redstone Residential runs a large operation. With more than 38,000 beds across 20 states, they're one of the biggest third-party student and multi-family housing managers in the country, and their conventional portfolio keeps growing. This Maintenance Technician position is based in Boca Raton, Florida, and it's a full-time hourly role at $20 to $22 per hour.

What You'll Actually Do

Most of the work here falls into two buckets: keeping the community looking sharp every day, and making sure apartments are ready when new residents move in. Curb appeal is taken seriously. That means grounds stay clean, common areas stay tidy, and nothing about the property's exterior signals neglect. Turns are a real part of this job. You'll oversee apartment turnovers and work to get each unit to the best possible condition before a resident gets the keys.

Day-to-day, you'll handle basic repairs and general maintenance tasks, respond to emergencies when they come up, and keep the Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager informed about anything that needs more attention than you can address on your own. Customer service runs through all of it. Residents notice how maintenance staff communicate and follow through, not just whether the repair got done.

A few specifics to be clear about: you'll need to lift 75 lbs. and work 8 to 10 hour shifts on your feet. This isn't a desk role, and Boca Raton's heat is real. If you've done property maintenance in South Florida, you already know what summer punch lists feel like.

What You Bring

  • At least one year of relevant maintenance experience; property management background is a plus
  • Basic to working knowledge of maintenance trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail, especially during turns and move-in prep
  • Genuine customer service instincts. Residents will talk to you directly, often when something has gone wrong
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting and extended standing shifts

The Bigger Picture

Maintenance Technicians who build their skills at a company this size tend to move into Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor roles faster than they would at a smaller single-property operation. Redstone offers a continued education program and invests in internal training, which matters if you want to grow toward supervisory work or pick up specialized certifications along the way.

Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, 15 days of PTO, 10 paid holidays, 3 paid service days, paid parental leave, and a 401K with up to 6% matching. Short-term disability and an Employee Assistance Program round out the package. For an hourly maintenance role, that's a solid benefits structure worth weighing against comparable positions in the market.
