Maintenance Technician
BozzutoResidential property maintenance in Northern Virginia runs at a specific pace. Alexandria's rental stock skews toward older mid-rise and garden-style buildings that carry real mechanical complexity, and residents in this market hold their communities to high standards. Bozzuto operates at the upper end of that expectation, and this Maintenance Technician role is central to meeting it.
What the Work Actually Looks Like
Day to day, the work spans service ticket resolution, preventative maintenance, and make-ready preparation on vacant units. Turns are where you'll see the full range of the trade: HVAC checks, plumbing fixes, appliance repairs, punch list items that need to be caught and closed before a new resident moves in. Beyond turns, you're responsible for the physical condition of the community overall, including grounds upkeep, snow removal, and general cleanliness. Bozzuto communities carry a premium presentation standard, so attention to how a space looks matters as much as whether it works.
The role includes weekend and evening availability, plus participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies. That's a real part of the job. On-call maintenance is one of the more demanding aspects of property-level work, and candidates who have done it before will have a better sense of what they're signing up for.
What Bozzuto Is Looking For
- Some background in building maintenance or a trades education, at a beginner-to-intermediate skill level in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair
- Reliable personal transportation for commuting and on-call response
- Physical capability to lift and move 25 to 50 pounds frequently during the course of normal duties
- Comfort using property management software, apps, and work order systems
- Strong communication skills and a professional presentation when interacting with residents
One thing worth noting: Bozzuto will cover the cost of your EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification after your 12-month anniversary. For technicians who haven't yet earned it, that's a meaningful credential to add without paying out of pocket. EPA 608 Universal opens doors across commercial and residential HVAC work, so the investment Bozzuto makes here has real career value beyond this specific position.
The salary range for this role is $50,000 to $51,500, with additional bonus opportunities. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 20 days of paid time off plus holidays, a 401(k) with company match, and tuition reimbursement.
