Maintenance Technician

Pittsboro sits in Chatham County, one of the fastest-growing corridors in the Triangle region. Van Metre, a company with roots going back to 1955 and a portfolio spanning residential and commercial assets, is hiring a Maintenance Technician for this Pittsboro community. The role reports to both a Property Manager and a Service Manager, so you'll have clear direction on priorities from day to day.

What the Work Looks Like

The core of this position is hands-on property upkeep: completing resident service requests, turning vacant units, walking the grounds for curb appeal and safety issues, and supporting the Service Manager with preventative maintenance scheduling. Turns get particular attention here. A tight make-ready process on vacant units directly affects how quickly the property can lease, and someone who can move through a punch list efficiently and accurately adds real value to the team.

You'll also handle janitorial services, exterior building upkeep, inventory management for maintenance supplies, and record-keeping for completed work. After-hours emergency coverage is part of the role, and weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• One to two years of hands-on maintenance experience, or documented trade training in a relevant area
• Working knowledge of appliance, electrical, and plumbing repair
• Basic HVAC and electrical circuitry familiarity (Universal CFC Certification preferred)
• Current awareness of OSHA and applicable building and safety standards
• Valid driver's license required
• Own basic hand tools and the knowledge to use them safely

The compensation range is $23 to $25 per hour depending on experience, plus an annual bonus of up to $5,000 paid quarterly, and renewal and survey commissions.
