Leasing is often treated as entry-level, but anyone who's worked a busy lease-up or carried a community through a rough occupancy dip knows the role takes real skill. At The Residences at Escaya in Chula Vista, Olympus Property is looking for a Leasing Consultant who can handle the full cycle: generating traffic, converting prospects, executing lease paperwork, and keeping current residents happy enough to renew.
You're the first person a prospect meets, and often the last voice they hear before signing. That means your day moves between showing units, fielding phone and email inquiries, entering data into the resident database, and preparing move-in files. It's not a sit-at-the-desk job. You'll also get out into the community, visiting locators and local businesses to keep your property's name in front of referral sources, and you'll help plan and run resident events. Those events aren't optional extras; they're part of how this property holds occupancy and reduces turn.
The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday with rotating hours in that 9-to-6 window, Saturdays required, and some after-hours availability for resident functions each month. That last part is worth being honest about: if evenings and occasional weekends are a hard no for you, this posting probably isn't your fit.
Base pay runs $18 to $20 per hour depending on experience and location, with monthly leasing commissions and renewal bonuses layered on top. Bilingual candidates are preferred, which makes sense given the Chula Vista market.
A year of apartment leasing experience is the floor, not the ceiling. What actually moves the needle in a role like this is someone who closes without being pushy, handles objections on pricing or availability without getting rattled, and understands that a resident who renewed quietly in month 12 is just as valuable as a new lease signed this week. Renewal bonuses are part of the comp structure here for exactly that reason.
Olympus Property has been recognized as a National Apartment Association Top Employer three consecutive years. The benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer matching, tuition reimbursement, pet insurance, an apartment rental allowance, and a sabbatical program. Career pathing is listed explicitly, which in our industry is worth paying attention to. Leasing Consultant is a natural on-ramp to Assistant Manager and eventually Property Manager for people who develop their numbers sense alongside their people skills.
