Leasing Consultant

Leasing is one of the most transferable skill sets in residential property management. The ability to convert traffic, manage objections, build rapport quickly, and close a lease in a single visit translates directly to future roles in sales management, assistant management, and eventually property management. At Lakeline at Bartram Park, a community managed by Olympus Property in Jacksonville, FL, you'd be building those skills in a real-world environment with direct accountability to occupancy goals.

What This Role Actually Exercises

Leasing Consultants at Olympus are the first person a prospect meets and, more often than not, the reason they sign. That means the skills in play every day are conversion-focused: reading a prospect's priorities fast, matching them to the right unit, handling objections without losing momentum, and closing with confidence. You'll also maintain traffic records, prep lease paperwork, and enter data into the resident database, so attention to detail runs parallel to the sales work. Resident events and visits to local businesses and locators add a community-building dimension that sharpens marketing instincts over time.

The schedule reflects what leasing actually requires. Full-time hours run Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, with both weekend days required and some after-hours availability for resident functions. Anyone coming from hospitality, retail, or restaurant work will recognize this rhythm immediately. The difference here is that you're building equity in a career, not just a shift.

Where This Role Leads

Strong leasing consultants tend to advance to leasing manager or assistant manager within two to three years, assuming they hit their numbers and develop operational fluency. The administrative tasks in this role, including lease prep, database management, and coordination of move-ins, are the foundation of that operational side. Consultants who treat those pieces as seriously as the sales work tend to move faster. Olympus offers formal career pathing, which matters when you're deciding where to invest your early years in the industry.

Pay starts between $18 and $22 per hour, with monthly leasing commissions and renewal bonuses on top of that. The benefit package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer matching, an apartment rental allowance, educational assistance, and several other standard-to-strong offerings for the industry.

What Sets Strong Candidates Apart Here

Olympus has been recognized as a top employer by the National Apartment Association three consecutive years. That reputation tends to attract candidates who are already comfortable in customer-facing roles, so the baseline is competitive. What separates someone who excels here is genuine curiosity about the people they're leasing to. Consultants who ask better questions, remember details between touchpoints, and follow up thoughtfully will out-convert peers who rely purely on enthusiasm. One year of leasing experience is the floor, but candidates from hospitality or retail who understand how to manage high-volume customer interactions and close confidently should read this requirement as a guideline, not a wall.

Minimum qualifications to be aware of:

  • At least one year of apartment leasing experience, or equivalent experience in a customer-facing, sales-oriented role
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule including both weekend days
  • Availability for occasional after-hours resident events
  • Comfort with lease paperwork, database entry, and administrative follow-through
