Leasing Consultant

Leasing roles at apartment communities often get reduced to traffic logs and application processing. At Prometheus, the expectation runs deeper than that, which is probably why they gave the position a different name entirely.

Prometheus Real Estate Group has been in the Bay Area since 1965 and has built one of the largest privately held apartment portfolios in the region, now over 13,000 units across Silicon Valley, Portland, and Seattle. They're vertically integrated, handling acquisitions, development, value-add renovations, and operations all in-house. That structure matters for anyone in a leasing role because it means the company is genuinely invested in the long-term performance of each asset, not just hitting occupancy numbers for a third-party client.

What the Role Actually Involves

Prometheus calls this position a Neighbor Ambassador rather than a Leasing Consultant, and the distinction reflects how they think about the work. You're handling the full leasing cycle: qualifying prospects, guiding tours, walking people through rental agreements, and converting leads into signed leases. But the job doesn't stop at the signature. You're also the ongoing point of contact for residents, which means your customer service instincts get tested just as much as your sales ability.

On the administrative side, you'll run market surveys, prepare Neighborhood reports, and manage apartment advertising. For someone early in their PM career, this is actually useful exposure. Knowing how to read a comp set and understand your position in the local market is a skill that pays dividends when you move into an Assistant Manager or Property Manager role later.

Weekend availability is required. That's not a footnote. Saturdays and Sundays are peak traffic days at most communities, and Prometheus schedules accordingly, with weekday time off in exchange.

What You Bring

  • Comfort working in a customer-facing, sales-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and in person
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative without waiting to be told what to do next
  • A genuine interest in people, not just a tolerance for them
  • Weekend availability as a standard part of your schedule

Prometheus is explicit that they hire from outside property management. If you've come from retail, hospitality, or another service-heavy field, your background is considered relevant here. What they're evaluating is how you think and how you treat people, not whether you already know Yardi.

Compensation runs $25.00 to $28.75 per hour, with a $200 per-lease incentive, weekend premium pay, and a discretionary semi-annual bonus. Additional incentives exist for referrals, lease-up activity, and training. The benefits package includes fully company-paid medical, dental, and vision for eligible employees and dependents, 401(k) with employer matching, and tenure-based housing discounts, which is a meaningful perk if you're living in the Bay Area market.

One honest note: leasing roles at communities with strong brand identity, like this one, tend to carry higher resident expectations. You'll hear from people who feel strongly about their home. Handling that well, with patience and follow-through, is what separates the consultants who grow quickly from the ones who burn out. The leasing-to-management pipeline at companies like Prometheus is real, but it moves faster for people who treat the resident relationship as the core of the job rather than a side effect of it.
