Leasing Consultant
Hawthorne Residential PartnersWhat You'll Actually Do
At Hawthorne at Bay Forest in La Porte, the leasing consultant role is the front line of every occupancy and renewal outcome on the property. You'll greet prospects, run personalized tours, and field inquiries across phone, email, and web. The job doesn't stop at showing units. You'll complete applications, process new move-in paperwork accurately, and follow up on leads until they convert or go cold. Resident events, common area upkeep, and light social media marketing also fall within your scope.
La Porte sits in the Houston-Galveston industrial corridor, drawing a steady mix of petrochemical and port workers alongside families and long-term residents. Traffic to a garden-style community here tends to run reliably, but prospects have options across the 146 corridor and into Seabrook and League City. Knowing what nearby competitors are offering on concessions and pricing, and being able to articulate what sets Bay Forest apart, is real work in this market, not a formality.
Your schedule runs Monday through Friday, 9 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 4, with one weekday off to keep the week at 40 hours. Resident events may occasionally extend your day beyond standard office hours.
What You Bring
- At least one year of customer service, sales, or apartment leasing experience (preferred, not required)
- Comfort communicating in person, by phone, and in writing, with the ability to handle objections naturally
- Accuracy when processing leasing applications and move-in documentation
- A valid driver's license
- A Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP) designation is a plus
Trajectory and Compensation
Hawthorne structures a formal career path program, and leasing consultant is a recognized entry point toward assistant community manager. That progression is real in multifamily, and it tends to move faster for people who quickly get comfortable reading traffic patterns, understanding what drives occupancy softness, and helping with renewal outreach. Compensation is hourly with monthly leasing and renewal commissions layered on top, plus participation in leasing incentive programs. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) match, paid time off including your birthday, paid parental and adoption leave, pet insurance, and company-paid life insurance.
Candidates who separate themselves in a role like this usually combine genuine sales instincts with patience for the administrative side. The ability to close a lease is valuable. The ability to process paperwork cleanly without shortcuts is equally valuable, because errors in leasing documents create downstream problems for the management team and the resident alike. Both skills matter here.
