Leasing Consultant
The Scion GroupWhat You'll Actually Do
The Experience Team Member role at The Magnolia at Auburn sits at the intersection of leasing, marketing, and resident relations. On any given day, you might be walking a prospective student resident through the community and its amenities, following up on a maintenance request to make sure it closes before a frustrated resident reaches out again, or helping coordinate a resident engagement event designed to drive renewals and referrals. You'll also handle package logging, office upkeep, and after-hours lockout coverage on a rotating basis. The work is tangible, varied, and moves at a pace that matches a college town's rhythms, especially during turn season when Auburn's move-in and move-out cycles compress everything into a short, high-pressure window.
You'll provide feedback to the management team on what objections prospects raise and where sales conversations stall. That's a real responsibility. You're not just executing a script; you're feeding useful intelligence back up the chain so the leasing and marketing strategy can adjust. You'll also assist with social media and local outreach, which means you'll need to think about how the community presents itself to students who haven't visited yet.
What You Bring
- A genuine service orientation and the ability to adapt quickly when priorities shift
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a wide range of people
- Reliability and self-direction, particularly during high-traffic leasing periods
- Availability during summers, holidays, and turn periods when the workload peaks
- Comfort with basic administrative tasks: filing, scheduling, maintaining organized systems
The Skill Set This Role Builds
Student housing runs on faster lease cycles, higher turnover, and more relationship-intensive sales than conventional multifamily. If you're early in a property management career, this is a strong environment to develop leasing fundamentals under real pressure. You'll get hands-on experience reading prospect objections, understanding the competitive market, and supporting a team through a full turn. Those skills translate directly into assistant manager and leasing manager roles at both student and conventional properties.
The strongest candidates here tend to combine genuine warmth with operational follow-through. Being great at tours matters, but so does closing the loop on a maintenance ticket or showing up reliably for on-call rotation. Scion operates across a national student housing portfolio, so there's room to grow within the organization if you demonstrate that combination consistently.
