Leasing Consultant
Makowsky Ringel GreenbergMakowsky Ringel Greenberg has been a consistent presence in Memphis-area property management for decades, with a portfolio that spans both sides of the state line. This Leasing Consultant role covers two communities in DeSoto County, splitting time between Hernando and Southaven on a structured day-by-day schedule. You'll work one location per day, which keeps the role organized and lets you build genuine familiarity with each property's residents and traffic patterns rather than bouncing between sites mid-shift.
What You'll Actually Do
The core of this position is leasing: converting traffic into signed leases, following up with prospects, and maintaining the kind of resident relationships that support retention and reduce turnover costs. You'll handle the full leasing cycle from initial inquiry through application processing, and you'll represent the community's image in every interaction. Resident relations and administrative duties are part of the daily reality here, not secondary concerns. Saturday availability is required, which reflects the reality that weekend traffic is often when serious prospects show up.
DeSoto County has seen steady population growth driven by proximity to Memphis and relatively affordable cost of living compared to Shelby County. Southaven in particular draws renters who work in the metro but want suburban pricing and school access. That means traffic tends to skew toward practical, value-conscious renters who know the market and do their research. Strong product knowledge and clear communication about value will carry more weight here than high-pressure tactics.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of leasing or customer service experience preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance (required given the two-site structure)
- Ability to pass credit, background, and drug screening
Candidates who tend to thrive in split-site leasing roles are organized and self-directed. When you're the primary leasing presence at a property for the day, you set the tone for how every prospect and resident experiences that community. Waiting for direction doesn't work well here. You need to come in ready to run your day.
Compensation and Benefits
MRG offers a competitive base salary with a commission and bonus program tied to leasing performance. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability, company-paid life insurance, and additional group-rate insurance options. The company also provides apartment discounts, paid holidays and PTO, and a 401(k) with a profit-sharing plan. That profit-sharing component is worth noting. It's not standard across all property management companies at this level and suggests the firm has a longer-term orientation toward its employees.
