Leasing Consultant

What You'll Actually Do at Bexley at WestRidge

This role puts you at the front of the leasing experience at Weinstein Properties' McKinney community. On any given day, you're greeting walk-in traffic, qualifying prospects, touring apartment homes, and following up with leads. You're also handling administrative work: processing applications, managing lease paperwork, and logging activity in the property management system. When a current resident has a concern, you're often the first person they call. You'll help with property walks, inspect make-ready homes before move-in, and pitch in on community appearance. The role touches leasing, customer service, and light operations all at once.

The schedule runs weekdays 9 to 6, with Saturdays 9 to 5 on a team rotation. Sundays are closed. Starting pay is $19 per hour, with quarterly bonuses tied to performance. Weinstein has operated for over 70 years as a family-owned company, and they've kept a hands-on operational style across their 60-plus communities in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia.

What You Bring

Weinstein is explicit that prior leasing experience isn't required here, and they mean it. What they screen for is attitude and work ethic. That said, certain qualities translate directly into day-one performance:

  • Communication skills that work in person, by phone, and in writing. You'll be drafting follow-up emails and talking to prospects who are comparing several communities at once.
  • Comfort with sales conversations. You don't need to be aggressive, but you do need to close. Moving someone from a tour to a signed lease requires confidence and follow-through.
  • Organization under pressure. Interruptions are constant in a leasing office. You'll be mid-application when someone walks in the door, and both need attention.
  • Genuine customer service instincts. Resident retention starts with how you handle a complaint or a maintenance concern. The way you treat people after they sign matters as much as how you treated them before.

What This Role Builds

Leasing Consultant is the entry point into property management for a reason. The skills you develop here, reading traffic patterns, understanding what drives a prospect's decision, managing delinquency conversations with empathy, and learning what makes a unit show well, are the same skills that feed into Assistant Manager and Property Manager roles. Weinstein notes that many of their current leaders started in leasing, and that tracks with how the industry works broadly. If you're organized, driven, and consistent in your results, this role creates a clear path upward.

One honest note: leasing offices can be unpredictable. High-traffic weekends, weather-related situations, and occasional resident events may pull you outside standard hours. That's part of the job, and knowing it going in makes the adjustment easier. If you thrive when the day doesn't go exactly as planned, you'll fit the pace well.
