Leasing Consultant

A prospective resident stops by at 5:45 PM, fifteen minutes before close, wanting to tour a two-bedroom. You grab your keys and take them through the amenities with the same energy you had at 9 AM. That's the baseline expectation here.

Varsity House Gainesville is a student housing community managed by The Scion Group, a company that specializes in collegiate living. This leasing consultant role (called an Experience Team Member internally) sits at the intersection of sales, marketing, and day-to-day operations. You're the first person prospects meet, the one who handles package retrieval, maintenance follow-ups, office upkeep, and after-hours lockout calls when your rotation comes around.

What the Job Covers

On the leasing side, you'll run tours, respond to inquiries across multiple platforms, assist with social media content, and report back to management on what objections you're hearing from prospects. You'll also help plan and execute resident engagement events and support local marketing outreach.

On the operations side, expect to keep the office and common areas presentable, log and manage resident packages, schedule maintenance requests and track resolutions, and assist with opening and closing procedures. After-hours on-call rotation is part of the job.

Availability during summer, holidays, and the annual turn period is required. Student housing turns are compressed and high-volume. If you haven't worked one before, expect a few intense weeks each year when a large portion of the community turns over in a short window.

What Scion Is Looking For

  • Strong communication skills with a diverse, student-age population
  • Comfort with a schedule that shifts based on leasing season and community needs
  • Self-discipline and reliability without close supervision
  • A customer-first approach that holds up under pressure
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)

Candidates who tend to stand out in student housing leasing have genuine energy around the college environment, not performed enthusiasm, and they stay organized when multiple things demand attention at once. The ability to take feedback from management and adjust your pitch or approach quickly matters more here than prior leasing experience.

The role comes with health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k match, paid time off, paid parental leave, a discretionary annual bonus, and learning reimbursement opportunities.
