Leasing Consultant

What You'll Actually Do

This role sits at the front of Bozzuto's leasing funnel at their Oakland community. Your core job is converting prospect interest into signed leases. That starts with lead follow-up: responding quickly, giving people genuinely useful information about the unit, the building, and the neighborhood, and booking tours. From there, you're running those tours in a way that feels personal, not scripted. The goal is a lease, and your ability to read a prospect and tailor the conversation is what separates a tour that closes from one that doesn't.

Beyond the one-on-one work, you'll manage the community's social media presence on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. This means creating content that builds awareness and keeps the brand visible to people who are still early in their apartment search. It's a real part of the job, not an afterthought.

The schedule runs three weekends per month, with two weekdays off in exchange. That's the nature of residential leasing: prospects tour when they're not at work, and your availability needs to match theirs.

What You Bring

  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can adjust your tone for a text follow-up, a phone call, and an in-person tour without losing the thread.
  • Sales instincts. You know how to move a conversation forward without being pushy.
  • Comfort with social media content creation, specifically Facebook and Instagram.
  • Proficiency with software, apps, and property management platforms. You pick up new tools quickly.
  • A professional presentation and genuine interest in helping people find a home that works for them.

Context Worth Knowing

Leasing Consultant roles at well-run operators like Bozzuto tend to be a solid entry point into broader property management careers. Strong performers here often move into Senior Leasing, Leasing Manager, or Assistant Community Manager roles within two to three years. The skills you build, reading traffic patterns, tightening your follow-up cadence, understanding what drives lease conversion, carry directly into those next roles.

The Oakland market runs competitive. Renters have options, and they're researching before they ever call. What separates strong candidates here is the ability to provide information that's specific and useful before the tour even happens. Generic follow-up gets ignored. The consultants who close consistently are the ones who make the prospect feel like the decision is easy before they walk through the door.

Base salary runs $50,000 to $54,000, with bonus opportunities on top of that. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 20 days of paid time off plus holidays, a 401(k) with company match, and tuition reimbursement.
