A prospective resident calls on a Tuesday afternoon, two hours before your shift ends. They've toured three other communities that week and have questions about pet policy, parking, and when their application decision comes back. How you handle that conversation, and the follow-up email you send afterward, often determines whether Dover Hills gets the lease or loses it to a competitor down the road.

Paragon Properties is hiring a Leasing Consultant for Dover Hills Apartments in Kalamazoo. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role covering the full leasing cycle: generating traffic, conducting tours, processing applications and move-in paperwork, handling renewals, and supporting resident retention from day one through lease end. You'll also assist with on-site marketing, outreach to local businesses and employers, and resident event planning. Administrative accuracy matters here, since application and renewal paperwork flows through you before it reaches the manager for final review.

Kalamazoo's rental market draws a mix of Western Michigan University students, healthcare workers from Bronson and Ascension, and long-term residents, which means leasing consultants here field a wide range of prospect profiles and timelines. Reading what a prospect actually needs and matching it to the right unit type is a skill that separates good traffic conversion from average performance.

One practical note on onboarding: this position requires travel to the Southfield area for initial training and periodic sessions afterward. Paragon covers mileage, meals, and hotel accommodations for those trips.

What Paragon Is Looking For

  • At least one year of customer service or sales experience; six or more months of on-site leasing experience preferred, or a combination of relevant experience and education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college-level coursework preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Yardi experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Fair Housing regulations preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated sales ability
  • Pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical are required

Compensation and Benefits

Starting pay is $18.50 per hour, negotiable based on prior leasing or sales experience.
