Leasing Consultant

Leasing is a numbers game dressed up as a people job. Traffic, closing ratios, occupancy targets , the metrics are always there. But the consultants who actually hold communities together are the ones who treat every prospect like a real person rather than a unit to fill. Olympus Property, a three-year consecutive winner of the National Apartment Association's Top Employer award, is hiring a Leasing Consultant for 207 East in Edgewood, WA, and they're looking for someone who can do both: hit the numbers and actually care about the outcome.

What the Role Looks Like Day to Day

You're the first face a prospect sees when they walk through the door. That means your morning might start with a stack of follow-up calls from yesterday's tours, transition into back-to-back showings in the afternoon, and wrap with lease paperwork for someone moving in next week. You'll explain unit layouts and options, walk prospects through pricing, and close on new leases. You'll also handle move-in prep: getting keys ready, completing the lease file, and making sure the handoff to a new resident is clean.

Beyond the leasing cycle, you're involved in resident retention. That includes planning and running resident events, visiting local businesses and locators to keep traffic coming in, and responding to resident concerns before they become bigger problems. The admin side of the role is real too: data entry into the property's resident database, maintaining accurate traffic logs, and keeping your product knowledge current across all available floorplans and unit variations.

The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday with rotating hours between 9 AM and 6 PM, and weekends are required. Monthly after-hours availability for resident events is part of the job. That's worth knowing upfront.

What Olympus Is Looking For

  • At least one year of apartment leasing experience, or a solid track record in a high-volume, customer-facing role such as hospitality, retail, or restaurant service
  • Genuine comfort with sales conversations, including closing without being pushy
  • Strong administrative follow-through: the lease file has to be right before that resident picks up keys
  • Availability for weekends and periodic evening events

Pay starts between $19.00 and $21.00 per hour depending on experience, and the role includes monthly leasing commissions and resident renewal bonuses. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer matching, tuition reimbursement, pet insurance, and an apartment rental allowance, among others.

One thing worth noting for candidates coming from outside the industry: the consultants who advance fastest in leasing roles tend to be the ones who take renewal retention seriously from day one. Closing a new lease is visible; keeping a resident from going month-to-month and eventually churning is quieter work, but it's where NOI gets protected. If you're thinking about where this role leads, strong consultants typically move into assistant manager or leasing manager positions, where that retention instinct becomes even more valuable.
