Leasing Consultant

A prospect walks in mid-tour with questions you didn't expect, your phone is ringing with a maintenance inquiry, and a package delivery just arrived at the front desk. This is a Tuesday. The Customer Experience Specialist role at Cottonwood Clermont Apartments rewards people who read a room quickly, shift priorities without losing focus, and still end each interaction with genuine warmth.

What the Role Covers Day to Day

This is a full-cycle leasing and hospitality position. You'll field inquiries across phone, email, and text, ensuring every prospective resident gets accurate, timely information about pricing and availability. You'll keep apartments show-ready by walking vacant units, inspecting the tour path, and confirming the make-ready condition meets Cottonwood's standards before a scheduled showing. Move-in readiness isn't just a punch list item here; it's part of the brand promise.

Beyond the leasing side, you'll greet everyone who comes through the office door, including residents and vendors, manage the package room daily, support community event planning, and contribute to social media marketing efforts. Cottonwood was an early adopter of Self-Guided Tours, so you'll also support that leasing channel, which means understanding how prospects move through the process independently and being ready to follow up meaningfully.

The schedule is full-time and includes evenings and weekends. That flexibility is a real part of the job, not fine print.

What You'll Bring and What You'll Build

The role requires:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across multiple channels
  • A genuinely upbeat, service-first attitude with residents, prospects, and vendors
  • Attention to detail when inspecting units and common areas for tour readiness
  • Comfort with technology and digital leasing tools
  • The ability to handle a fast-moving front office without losing composure

The role builds:

  • Deep fluency in the leasing lifecycle, from initial traffic through move-in
  • Experience with community marketing and resident engagement programming
  • Vendor communication and relationship management skills that transfer directly into assistant manager or property manager roles

Cottonwood frames this position as a career entry point with an explicit path toward management. Leasing consultants who develop occupancy instincts, understand concessions and pricing strategy, and build rapport with residents consistently are the ones who move into those next roles. The habits you build here, following up quickly, keeping accurate notes, owning the resident experience, are the same habits that define effective managers in this industry.
