Leasing Consultant

A prospective resident walks in on a Saturday afternoon, slightly skeptical, comparing your community to three others they toured this morning. What happens in the next 20 minutes often determines whether they sign or disappear. That moment is the core skill this role sharpens every single day.

Property Management Associates, one of the larger full-service property management firms in Southern California with over 30 years operating across the greater LA County market, is building a pipeline of strong leasing talent for upcoming openings at their Carson location. This is a full-time, hourly position with a pay range of $19.50 to $23.00 per hour, plus a commission structure that rewards performance directly: $100 per new lease signed and $50 per renewal.

What This Role Involves

Day to day, you're conducting property tours, walking prospects through the community and converting interest into signed leases. You'll manage applicants through the full cycle, from initial inquiry to application review, screening, and lease execution. You'll also contribute to the property's marketing efforts, which at PMA includes both traditional outreach and active use of online platforms and social media to generate traffic and fill vacancies. One weekend day per week is a standard expectation in this role.

PMA is a company that manages both residential and commercial properties, so there's real breadth to the organization you'd be joining. They describe themselves as family-oriented and encourage an entrepreneurial approach among their staff.

What You'll Need Coming In

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, you're representing the property in every interaction
  • Genuine comfort with the leasing and rental application process, including lease signings
  • Sales instincts and the ability to read what a prospect actually needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using social media for marketing purposes
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager and Rent Cafe is a plus, not a requirement

What This Role Builds

Strong leasing consultants who understand how to read traffic patterns, track conversion rates, and adjust their pitch based on what's driving or killing applications develop a skill set that translates cleanly into assistant manager and property manager roles. If you want to grow in residential property management, the leasing desk is where you learn the product, the residents, and the numbers. The commission structure here also trains you to think like an operator, every lease is a real outcome with a real dollar value attached to it.

Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance with an employer contribution, a 401(k) with discretionary company match after one year, short-term and long-term disability coverage, supplemental insurance options, and a PTO package that includes vacation, holidays, and sick time.
