Leasing Consultant
Paragon PropertiesLeasing is a high-contact, high-turnover function at most apartment communities. The consultant role exists because occupancy doesn't manage itself. Someone has to answer the phone, run the tour, close the application, and follow up after move-in. At Lakeside Village Apartments in Clinton Township, Paragon Properties is filling that seat.
What the Job Actually Involves
This is a full-cycle leasing position. You're handling traffic from first contact through signed lease, which means phone and email inquiries, in-person tours, application processing, and move-in paperwork. You'll also stay involved after the lease is signed: work order follow-up, renewal conversations, and resident retention are all part of the scope. Community inspections, model apartments, and vacant units need to meet standards before prospects ever walk through the door, and keeping that in order falls to you too.
Beyond the leasing desk, you'll support site marketing and outreach to local businesses and employers, and help plan and attend resident events. It's a broad role for a single title.
The schedule is guaranteed full-time at 40 hours per week. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour, negotiable based on prior leasing experience. The company offers move-in bonuses, a rent discount, 401(k) with employer contribution, medical/dental/vision with a short waiting period, and paid life and disability insurance. Nine paid holidays and PTO are included.
Who Fits This Role
- At least one year in a customer service or sales role; six-plus months of on-site leasing experience preferred
- High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred
- Comfortable with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Yardi experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of Fair Housing regulations preferred
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks during busy traffic periods
Pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical are required before start.
The candidates who do well in this kind of role tend to be the ones who treat the phone lead with the same energy as the walk-in. Plenty of consultants are good in person and let their phone and email conversion slip. Consistent follow-through across every touchpoint is what separates average occupancy numbers from strong ones. If you've got the sales instinct and the follow-up habit, there's real room to grow here into a senior leasing or assistant manager track.
