Community Manager

A prospective resident walks in on a Saturday afternoon, a little overwhelmed by their options in Silicon Valley's rental market. By the time they leave, they've got a clear picture of the community, a follow-up scheduled, and a genuine sense that someone actually listened to them. That interaction is the heartbeat of this role.

What This Role Actually Involves

Prometheus Real Estate Group is hiring a Leasing and Experience Manager to work across two of their Santa Clara communities: Alderwood and Timberleaf. Prometheus is the largest privately held apartment owner in the Bay Area, with a portfolio of over 13,000 units across Silicon Valley, Portland, and Seattle. They've held that position since 1965 by investing long-term and reinvesting in their properties consistently, so this isn't a company chasing short-term NOI at the expense of resident experience.

The title is their version of what most companies call an Assistant Property Manager or Assistant Business Manager, but the scope here is genuinely broader. You'll handle leasing activity directly, help coach the leasing team toward closes, and build out sales and marketing strategies that keep occupancy where it needs to be. You'll also take ownership of resident relations: resolving concerns, following up until they're actually resolved, and organizing events that build a real sense of community. On the operational side, you'll work with pricing, concessions, collections, and occupancy reporting. It's a full-cycle position where you're touching leasing, people management, and daily operations in the same week, sometimes the same day.

Weekend availability is part of the job. Traffic is highest on Saturdays and Sundays, and Prometheus structures schedules accordingly, with regular weekdays off in exchange.

Who Fits Well Here

Prometheus looks for at least two years of leasing experience, and a bachelor's degree is preferred (a high school diploma or GED is required). They also hire across industries, so if your background is in hospitality, retail, or another customer-facing field with some leasing experience layered in, that combination is worth highlighting.

What separates strong candidates in a role like this is the ability to hold two modes at once: the warmth and attentiveness that makes a resident feel genuinely cared for, and the operational discipline to keep delinquency low, concessions tracked, and the leasing team accountable to goals. People who lean too far into one mode or the other tend to struggle. The best Leasing and Experience Managers know when to slow down for a conversation and when to stay focused on the numbers.

Compensation runs between $33.25 and $36.25 per hour, with a $200 per-lease incentive, a semi-annual discretionary bonus, and weekend shift premium pay. Benefits include fully company-paid medical, vision, and dental (dependents included), 401(k) with employer matching, tenure-based housing discounts, tuition reimbursement, and 12 paid holidays, including your birthday.

  • At least two years of leasing experience required
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Weekend availability required as part of the regular schedule
  • Comfort with leasing team supervision, coaching, and goal-setting
  • Experience with pricing, concessions, collections, and occupancy reporting

This role sits one step below Community Manager, and Prometheus promotes from within. If you're looking to move into full property management, this is a well-structured path to get there.
