Community Manager

The Role and What It Actually Covers

Apartment communities in high-demand markets like Santa Clara live and die by the quality of the team that residents interact with every day. This position sits at the intersection of leasing, resident relations, and team leadership. It's a real operational role with real supervisory weight, and Prometheus structures it differently than most companies would. Where other operators call this an assistant manager or assistant business manager, the Leasing and Experience Manager title reflects the actual scope: you're running leasing activities, managing the front-line team, and owning the resident experience at 550 Moreland simultaneously.

Prometheus is the largest privately held apartment owner in the Bay Area, with over 13,000 homes across Silicon Valley, Portland, and Seattle. They've operated since 1965 and are vertically integrated, handling acquisitions, development, value-add renovations, and property management in-house. They're also a Certified B Corporation, which matters to how they operate internally, not just how they market themselves externally.

What You'll Be Doing Day to Day

Resident relations takes up a meaningful chunk of this role. You're the person who fields concerns, follows through on resolutions, and builds the kind of trust that turns a lease renewal from a transaction into a given. You'll also plan community events, which at a well-run community aren't just nice-to-haves. They're part of how residents feel connected to where they live.

On the leasing side, you're already experienced enough that you're helping close deals and coaching others, not learning the basics yourself. You'll contribute to sales and marketing strategy, track market conditions, and work with pricing and concessions. Occupancy reporting, collections, and resident profile management are also in your lane. The supervisory piece means you're setting goals for the leasing team, running training, and tracking performance.

Weekend availability is required. The community sees its highest traffic on Saturdays and Sundays, so your regular days off fall on weekdays.

Qualifications Prometheus is looking for:

  • At least two years of leasing experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Background in customer service, sales, or marketing environments
  • Comfort with supervisory responsibilities and team development

Compensation runs $33.25 to $36.25 per hour, with a $200 per-lease incentive, a discretionary semi-annual bonus, and weekend shift premium pay. Medical, dental, and vision are 100% company-paid for eligible employees and dependents. There's also a 401(k) with employer matching, tenure-based housing discounts, tuition reimbursement, and paid volunteer time.

One thing worth noting for candidates thinking about career trajectory: this role is a natural bridge to a full community manager position. The supervisory and operational experience you build here, combined with exposure to pricing strategy and leasing performance in a competitive Silicon Valley market, tends to carry real weight when moving into a general manager seat. Prometheus promotes from within, and the structure of this role is designed with that in mind.
