What the Role Actually Covers

The Home Base Supervisor title is Prometheus's version of a regional administrative supervisor, and the scope is wider than that label suggests. You're overseeing administrative operations across multiple properties in the Cupertino area, which means your day pulls in several directions at once. In the morning you might be auditing move-in documentation for compliance with fair housing standards. By midday you could be reviewing delinquency reports, coaching a Home Base Coordinator through a tricky application verification, or coordinating with accounting on a neighbor billing issue. The afternoon might bring a performance conversation with a team member or a call with an attorney on an eviction in progress.

That rhythm is the job. You're not a pure leasing role, and you're not a pure people manager. You're the operational anchor connecting on-site teams, the Home Base Director, and cross-functional departments including property management, neighborhood operations, and accounting. Prometheus refers to their residents as "Neighbors" and their properties as "Neighborhoods," and that framing reflects a genuine cultural orientation toward community rather than just occupancy. You'll feel that difference in how complaints are handled and how documentation expectations are set.

Travel between properties is part of the position, so candidates local to Silicon Valley who know the geography of a dense, competitive rental market will settle in faster.

What You Bring to This Role

  • At least three years of property management experience, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity
  • Working knowledge of housing rental laws, fair housing compliance, and lease documentation standards
  • Comfort with delinquency management, move-in/move-out auditing, and rental agreement processes
  • Experience interviewing, training, and evaluating administrative staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication across departments and with residents
  • High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree is preferred

Prometheus explicitly recruits across industries, so a background that includes strong customer service or bookkeeping alongside property management experience is genuinely valued here, not just tolerated.

What This Role Builds

Supervisors in multi-property administrative roles develop a specific kind of operational fluency that's hard to get elsewhere: the ability to maintain consistency across sites without direct, daily presence at each one. You'll sharpen your documentation auditing skills, build judgment around fair housing compliance under real conditions, and develop a management style that works across a dispersed team. Those are exactly the competencies that translate into regional manager and director-level roles in property management.

Prometheus is a B Corporation and the largest privately held apartment owner in the Bay Area, with a portfolio exceeding 13,000 units. The scale means you're operating within real organizational infrastructure, including in-house acquisitions, development, and value-add renovation teams. That cross-departmental exposure is genuinely unusual at this level and gives you visibility into how a vertically integrated ownership group makes decisions, which sharpens your instincts well beyond what a third-party management role typically offers.
