Groundskeeper
Weinstein PropertiesBexley at Carpenter Village sits in one of the Triangle's most active suburban corridors, where apartment communities compete hard on curb appeal and resident experience. A well-kept exterior isn't just cosmetic at a property like this. It's part of what justifies renewal rates and keeps traffic converting to leases.
What the Work Looks Like Day to Day
This is a Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm position, which gives it a more predictable rhythm than most maintenance roles. The bulk of the work happens outdoors: litter and pet waste pickup, blowing walkways and common areas, weeding, light landscaping, and keeping the community's shared spaces presentable. You'll also handle make-ready support tasks like trashing out vacant apartments and light painting when needed. The work is physical and repetitive by nature. If daily rounds of picking up litter and cleaning pet stations sounds discouraging, this role probably isn't the right fit. If you take satisfaction in visible results and a consistent routine, it tends to suit people well.
Physical demands are real. Expect prolonged walking and standing, frequent lifting up to 50 pounds or more, operating equipment like backpack blowers and power washers, and working outdoors year-round through Carolina heat and humidity. The Cary summers are no joke, and that's worth considering honestly before you apply.
What Weinstein Properties Brings to the Table
Weinstein is a family-owned company with over 70 years in the business and a portfolio of more than 60 apartment communities across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. That kind of ownership structure tends to mean decisions get made closer to the property level and tenure actually gets noticed. The starting rate is $16 per hour with quarterly bonuses, and there's a $1,000 stay-on bonus available at the 90-day mark for employees in good standing. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k with company match, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a rent discount. They also include birthday time off, which is a small thing but worth noting as a signal of the culture.
Room to Grow
Groundskeeper roles at community-focused operators like Weinstein often serve as a legitimate entry point into property maintenance careers. Team members who show initiative and a willingness to pick up new skills can work toward maintenance technician positions, where the pay ceiling and scope of responsibility increase substantially. This is a company that says explicitly it trains talent from the ground up, and a 70-year track record with a family ownership structure gives that claim more credibility than it might carry elsewhere.
