Full-Time Leasing Consultant
PeakMade Real EstateLeasing is a sales role. That sounds obvious, but plenty of candidates come in expecting a hospitality gig and get surprised by the close rate expectations. At PeakMade, this position is structured around conversion, and the skills you'll use most are the ones that live at the intersection of sales discipline and resident experience.
The Skills This Role Runs On
The core of this job is multi-touch follow-up. Calls, texts, emails, CRM notes, all of it done consistently and quickly. PeakMade is looking for someone who already knows what a pipeline looks like and who doesn't need to be reminded that a lead that goes cold costs the community real money. Strong product knowledge matters here too: pricing, availability, concessions, and a working understanding of the competitive set in the submarket. You're not just selling an apartment, you're selling this apartment over the three other communities a prospect toured this week.
Tour delivery is the other major skill set. High-traffic leasing seasons reward consultants who can read a prospect, build rapport quickly, and create genuine urgency without being pushy. The best performers in this type of role know how to tailor the walk to what the prospect actually said they needed, not just what's on the brochure.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Day to day, you're converting inbound leads across phone, email, and in-person channels, delivering tours, following up with prospects throughout the sales cycle, and maintaining accurate records in whatever CRM platform the community runs (Yardi, Entrata, and RealPage are all mentioned). You'll also handle lease paperwork, deposit collection, and move-in and move-out coordination, so administrative accuracy is part of the job, not an afterthought. During turn season, you'll support the make-ready process alongside the broader team.
- 1+ year of sales or leasing experience with measurable conversion results
- Hands-on experience with a property management CRM
- Demonstrated multi-touch outreach discipline
- Availability to work weekends and peak leasing hours
What's Worth Knowing About This Role
Student housing leasing, which is PeakMade's primary space, has a different rhythm than conventional multifamily. Lease-up activity tends to compress into defined windows, traffic spikes seasonally, and the prospect pool often includes parents as decision-makers alongside the residents themselves. If you've worked conventional garden-style or mid-rise leasing before, the skills transfer cleanly, but the pace and dynamic shift. Strong performers in this environment tend to combine genuine hustle during peak season with the kind of consistent follow-up discipline that keeps prospects engaged over a longer consideration cycle.
The role is commission-eligible, which means your earnings track directly to your closing performance. PeakMade also offers housing discounts (terms vary by community), PTO, wellbeing days, 401(k) match, and growth opportunities into leadership. The Houston location puts you in one of the more active student housing and multifamily markets in the country, which matters for long-term career development in this industry.
