Leasing Consultant

A prospect calls at 4:45 PM on a Friday. They toured two communities earlier that week, they're comparing prices, and they want to talk in Spanish. How you handle the next ten minutes will determine whether that lease gets signed or goes to a competitor down the street.

Cortland, one of the top ten multifamily owners and operators in the country, is hiring a Bilingual Leasing and Sales Consultant for its Greater Orlando portfolio. This is a conversion-focused role. You own your pipeline from first contact to signed lease, and your results show up directly in occupancy and revenue numbers. Cortland operates a vertically integrated platform covering design, construction, and property management in-house, which means the product you're selling is one the company has a direct stake in delivering well.

What the Role Actually Involves

You'll manage a full sales cycle: generating and qualifying leads, conducting tours, following up through a CRM, handling objections, and closing. The expectation is that you hit leasing goals and conversion targets consistently, not occasionally. You'll track your own pipeline health, monitor lead-to-lease ratios, and report on activity metrics. CRM discipline matters here. Cortland tracks performance closely, so records need to stay current and accurate.

Beyond closing leases, you'll represent the community through marketing programs, social media presence, and resident events designed to drive referrals and retention. Cortland positions its properties as premium living experiences, so the service standard is high and the presentation expectations match that.

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is central to this role, not a secondary skill. Orlando's renter pool includes a large Spanish-speaking population, and the ability to guide a prospect through the full leasing process in their preferred language directly affects traffic-to-lease conversion.

What Cortland Is Looking For

  • At least six months of experience in sales, leasing, or a performance-measured customer-facing role
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Comfort being held to leasing goals and conversion KPIs
  • Experience with or ability to learn CRM systems for lead tracking
  • Organized follow-up habits and strong time management
  • Coachable, with the ability to adjust sales approach based on feedback and market conditions
  • Professional presentation consistent with a Class A brand standard

The candidates who outperform in roles like this tend to treat follow-up as a system, not a task. A tour without a follow-up call within 24 hours is a lead that cools. The consultants who consistently hit conversion targets are usually the ones who work their CRM daily and treat every touchpoint in the pipeline with the same energy as the initial tour.

Cortland was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Atlanta. The company participates in E-Verify and maintains a drug-free workplace. Cortland is an equal opportunity employer.
