Assistant Property Manager

Assistant property manager roles at luxury communities ask a lot. You're handling leasing one hour and chasing delinquency the next. At Inkwell at Baseline, a Davis Development community in Broomfield, CO, the expectation is that you can shift between those two modes without losing composure in either one.

What the Work Actually Looks Like

The leasing side is active: greeting and touring prospective residents, walking them through qualifications, preparing files, and helping close renewals. You'll also support marketing efforts and resident events aimed at pushing occupancy to target. The operations side is where the real depth lives. You'll manage applications, track rents, and handle delinquency including the legal non-payment process when it comes to that. Yardi accuracy is your responsibility, so if you're sloppy with records, this role will make that apparent quickly. You'll do property walk-throughs, follow up on work orders, and keep the community looking and functioning at a level consistent with a luxury standard.

Resident issues will land on your desk too. Some of those conversations are straightforward. Some aren't. Davis specifically calls out maintaining a calm demeanor, and that's not filler language. It reflects the reality that you'll handle conflict regularly, and how you handle it reflects directly on the community's reputation.

What Davis Development Looks For

  • At least one year of assistant property manager experience
  • Lease-up experience at luxury communities is a plus
  • Proven sales, marketing, and customer service background
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working across teams and with people at different levels of the organization
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with or willingness to learn Yardi

Candidates who stand out in roles like this are the ones who don't need reminding to follow through. Leasing skills get you in the door, but it's the operational discipline, keeping files clean, staying on top of delinquency before it compounds, catching problems on walk-throughs before residents do, that separates a strong assistant manager from one who's just passing through.

The Company Behind the Property

Davis Development is a privately owned luxury developer and management company with more than 25 years building and operating multifamily communities across the country. Their model is in-house management, meaning the people running these communities work directly for Davis, not a third-party firm. They describe their on-site teams as owner-operators, and that framing is meaningful. You're expected to make decisions that matter, not wait for someone else to call the shot.

Benefits include health coverage (medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health) starting the first of the month after 30 days, a 401(k) with a 4% employer match that vests immediately, company-paid life insurance, paid time off with a carryover provision, and access to a company apparel store allowance. Training and development are part of the package as well, which matters if you're thinking about a path toward property manager or beyond.

Davis Development is an equal opportunity employer. No third-party recruiter inquiries, please.
