Assistant Property Manager

The Assistant Property Manager role exists in a specific tension: you're not the top of the org chart at the property, but you're often the one holding it together. Delinquency follow-up, leasing traffic, team coverage when the PM is out, resident escalations that need someone with actual authority to resolve them. Bozzuto is hiring for this position at their Tampa community, and the salary band sits at $58,000 to $60,000 with bonus eligibility on top.

What the Role Actually Covers

Financially, you own rent collection and delinquency management. That means you're not just sending notices; you're tracking aging, making judgment calls on payment plans, and keeping the ledger clean enough that it reflects well on the T-12. On the leasing side, you're conducting tours and converting traffic into signed leases, which at a Bozzuto community means the presentation standard is high. They're not a C-class operator, and the expectation on both physical curb appeal and the professionalism of the team reflects that.

When the Property Manager is absent, you run the property. That's not a ceremonial title. You're making operational decisions, coaching the team, and keeping the day-to-day from sliding. Weekend availability is part of the deal: one to two weekends per month, with compensating days off during the week. If weekend work genuinely doesn't fit your life right now, this one probably isn't the right fit.

What Bozzuto Is Looking For

  • A four-year degree or equivalent experience in property management, hospitality, or retail
  • At least two years in a customer-facing or operations role, ideally with some exposure to P&L or budget management
  • Comfort in Yardi or comparable property management software
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms for community marketing purposes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, which matter more in this role than most people expect

The candidates who tend to stand out at this level aren't necessarily the ones with the most years on a resume. They're the ones who can read a delinquency report, handle a difficult resident conversation, and then turn around and give a polished tour to a prospect, all in the same afternoon, without either task suffering. That range is harder to find than it sounds.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 20 days of PTO plus holidays, a 401k with company match, and tuition reimbursement. The APM seat at a well-regarded regional operator like Bozzuto is a credible stepping stone toward a Property Manager role, and Tampa's multifamily market has enough activity that the experience you build here travels well.
