Assistant Property Manager

Lincoln Property Company manages more than 720 million square feet of commercial space across the United States, which means an assistant property manager here isn't working in a vacuum. The institutional clients, the reporting standards, the operational discipline , all of it runs at a scale that teaches you things a smaller shop simply can't.

This role sits on the commercial side, covering office, retail, and industrial properties. Houston is an appropriate market for that mix. The energy sector still drives significant office demand in submarkets like the Energy Corridor and Westchase, while the broader metro continues to absorb industrial space at a pace that keeps third-party management firms like LPC consistently busy. You'll be working within that context, supporting a Property Manager across the day-to-day and longer-cycle responsibilities that keep institutional assets running cleanly.

On the financial side, expect to get hands-on with operating expense reconciliations , CAM and OpEx , which means coordinating closely with accounting and understanding how lease language translates into billable charges. You'll assist in preparing monthly reporting packages for clients, reviewing vendor invoices against authorization limits and management agreement terms, and helping with budget preparation. This is the kind of financial exposure that builds real competency, not surface-level familiarity.

Operationally, the role covers tenant relations, lease administration (setup, changes, system updates), vendor procurement and bidding, and coordinating move-ins and move-outs including walk-throughs with tenants and tenant improvement teams. You'll also support emergency response planning and participate in required drills. Property inspections happen monthly at minimum, and travel to assigned sites is part of the job. This is fully in-office.

What Lincoln is looking for

  • A bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience; 1 to 2 years of related work in commercial property management
  • Solid command of Microsoft Office, with comfort in AP and CMMS platforms a plus
  • Ability to work through financial terms and calculations , percentages, reconciliations, basic analysis , without needing to be walked through every step
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to handle tenant interactions professionally
  • Strong organizational habits and a genuine interest in building toward a management role
  • Current U.S. work authorization, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

Where this role typically leads: assistant property managers who develop fluency in CAM reconciliations, client reporting, and lease administration at a firm like LPC tend to move into property manager roles carrying their own portfolios. The combination of institutional-grade financial discipline and direct tenant management exposure is exactly what that next step requires. Candidates who stand out are those who treat the reporting and reconciliation work as a skill to master rather than an administrative chore , that's where the real learning compounds.
