Assistant Property Manager

Property management operators who run manufactured home communities often describe the assistant manager role as the one that teaches you everything. You're close enough to residents to understand what's actually happening on the ground, and close enough to the community manager to see how decisions get made. It's genuinely operational work, and Havenpark Communities builds its assistant roles that way deliberately.

Havenpark owns and operates more than 100 manufactured home communities across the U.S., with 30,000-plus homesites in its portfolio. The company is actively acquiring and growing, which means the people learning the business right now are well-positioned as that growth continues. This Assistant Community Manager role sits at a Clinton Township, MI property and reports directly into the Community Manager.

What the Day-to-Day Actually Looks Like

Your week will mix resident-facing work with the kind of operational follow-through that keeps a community functioning. Resident relations take up a meaningful chunk of time. That includes handling concerns before they escalate, fielding questions, and being someone residents can actually reach when they need help. You'll also support collections, track delinquency, and help keep the leasing process moving for prospective residents.

Work order coordination falls into your scope too. That means communicating with maintenance and vendors, following up on open items, and making sure things don't fall through the cracks. Some travel for training or company meetings may come up once or twice a year, but this is primarily an on-site role.

Who Fits Well Here

  • Prior experience in property management or a related customer-facing role
  • Comfort handling collections conversations with professionalism and empathy
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable about follow-through
  • Able to stay steady when residents are frustrated or situations get complicated
  • A collaborative working style, since you'll be in constant coordination with your Community Manager and maintenance team

Manufactured housing communities attract residents with real roots. Longer tenancies, deeper community ties, and neighbors who know each other by name. That resident profile means relationships genuinely matter here, and an assistant manager who builds trust tends to find the work more rewarding and the job much easier to do well. The candidates who thrive in this role typically combine patience with persistence. They follow up without being told to, and they treat every resident interaction as a reflection of how the community feels to live in.

Havenpark describes its culture around five values: Respect, Grit, Collaboration, Stewardship, and Boldness. Those aren't just words on a wall if the organization truly lives by them. If you're someone who takes ownership, works well with others, and brings a steady, positive presence to a team, this role is worth a close look.
