Assistant Property Manager
Weinstein PropertiesWhat You'll Actually Do
Bexley at Whitestone in Cedar Park is a busy community, and this role touches nearly every part of daily operations. You'll work the leasing side: answering internet leads, taking calls, booking tours, processing applications, pulling together lease paperwork, collecting deposits, and getting signatures. You'll also handle the resident side once they're in the door: renewals, notices to vacate, early terminations, pet addendums, transfers, and account questions. When units turn, you'll walk them with maintenance to confirm the make-ready is actually ready before a new resident moves in. You'll post rent, chase balances, and process move-out dispositions. On top of that, you'll help plan and host resident events.
The schedule is weekdays 9 to 6, with Saturdays 9 to 5 on a team rotation. Sundays are off. Occasional after-hours support comes with the territory, particularly around resident events or weather situations. That's worth knowing upfront.
There's also a leadership component here. Weinstein expects their Assistant Managers to help train the team and contribute to hitting community goals. This isn't a pure leasing role or a pure admin role. You'll need to be comfortable moving between both and covering gaps when the team needs it.
What You Bring
- Prior property management experience is a plus, but not required. Strong candidates from hospitality, retail management, or sales leadership transition well into this work.
- Some form of management or supervisory experience is required. Weinstein will train the property management specifics, but they need someone who already knows how to lead people.
- Comfort with difficult conversations. Residents don't always come to the office happy. You'll handle complaints, late payment follow-ups, and tough renewal negotiations on a regular basis.
- Attention to detail matters here, especially around lease paperwork and security deposit dispositions. Errors in those areas create downstream problems.
- Organization and follow-through. You'll juggle open work orders, pending applications, and resident requests simultaneously on any given day.
Context Worth Having
Weinstein Properties is a family-owned company with more than 70 years in the business and a portfolio of over 60 communities across Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia. Family-owned at that scale tends to mean flatter communication and more direct access to decision-makers than you'd find at a large REIT or institutional operator. The trade-off is that expectations are high and they want people who take ownership.
Pay starts at $23 per hour and increases with experience. Quarterly bonuses are included. Benefits cover health, dental, vision, 401k with company match, a rent discount, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and birthday time off. The training program is structured, which matters if you're coming from outside the industry. Many people in leadership at Weinstein started in leasing or assistant roles, so the path upward is real for candidates who perform.
What separates strong candidates here is the combination of genuine customer patience and comfort with accountability. The leasing and admin tasks can be learned. Handling a frustrated resident or following up on a delinquency balance without letting it affect your next interaction is harder to train, and it's what Weinstein needs at the assistant level.
