Assistant Property Manager

A resident calls at 8:55 AM, frustrated about a charge on their ledger. By 9:15, you've pulled the account, identified the error, and updated the record before the morning's first showing. That kind of rhythm defines this role.

Olympus Property is hiring an Assistant Manager for Olympus Pinegrove in La Plata, MD. This is a full-time, onsite position with a pay range of $27 to $28 per hour, plus monthly renewal and quarterly bonus incentives.

What the Job Actually Involves

The core of this role splits between financial oversight and resident-facing operations. You'll collect rent, post deposits before daily bank close, and maintain accurate records in the property management system (RealPage/Onesite preferred). When residents dispute charges or submit complaints, you handle them directly and promptly. Move-out account statements, final dispositions, and make-ready inspections before move-in are all part of your regular cycle.

When the Property Manager is out, you step into that seat. That means knowing the operation well enough to keep things running without a hand-off meeting. You'll also carry leasing responsibilities when the team needs coverage, including apartment showings and contributing to resident retention efforts and community events.

Staying aware of the local submarket matters here. New construction, nearby hiring trends, retail activity near the property: all of it can affect occupancy, and the expectation is that you track it.

What Olympus Is Looking For

  • Onsite apartment experience as an Assistant Manager or a cross-trained Leasing Consultant
  • Familiarity with RealPage, Knock, or Onesite (strongly preferred)
  • Availability Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, with flexibility for after-hours resident events and the first weekend of each month
  • Comfortable handling confidential resident files and financial records with accuracy and discretion
  • Able to manage liability and legal complaints by routing them immediately to the appropriate contacts

Strong candidates in this role tend to be the ones who catch small discrepancies before they become resident complaints, and who can shift from a leasing conversation to a collections follow-up to a make-ready walkthrough within the same afternoon. Versatility and attention to financial detail matter more here than any single specialization.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with employer matching, tuition reimbursement, pet insurance, short and long-term disability, life insurance, paid time off, an apartment rental allowance, and sabbatical eligibility. Olympus was recognized as a National Apartment Association Top Employer from 2023 through 2025.
