Maintenance Supervisor

Bozzuto is hiring an Assistant Maintenance Manager for one of its residential communities in Cambridge, MA, and the role comes with a $3,500 sign-on bonus. The base salary is $70,000. Cambridge is a dense, high-demand submarket with a mix of older mechanicals and newer construction, so whoever takes this seat needs to be comfortable across a range of building systems, not just the basics.

The day-to-day is what you'd expect from a senior maintenance role at a well-run company: service ticket completion, turns, preventative maintenance, grounds upkeep, and keeping the building's mechanical systems running at peak. Where this role goes beyond wrench-turning is the supervisory component. You're expected to lead a team, set the tone for quality and professionalism, and own the make-ready process end to end. Sloppy turns cost the community days of vacancy and frustrated new move-ins. That's the kind of detail this role is accountable for.

On the technical side, Bozzuto wants someone who knows HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair at a working level, with certifications to back it up (EPA and HVAC certs are listed). Exposure to complex mechanical systems like chillers, boilers, and central plant equipment is a plus, which tells you something about the property. Basic carpentry, drywall, and paint round out the punch list skill set. If you've only ever worked in simpler garden-style product, this may be a stretch.

The on-call rotation is real. Weekend availability is required. That's not a small print item at a company like Bozzuto where resident experience expectations are high. The candidates who tend to thrive in these roles are the ones who treat emergency response as part of the job, not an imposition on it.

What You'll Need

  • 5 or more years in the trades, facilities, or residential building maintenance
  • HVAC, EPA, and/or NAPE certification
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair
  • Supervisory or team lead experience preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and risk management practices
  • Comfort with property management technology platforms and basic Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently and work in varying weather conditions

Bozzuto offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, 20 days of PTO plus holidays, a 401k with company match, and tuition reimbursement. For someone with solid technical chops who's ready to step into a supervisory role at a company that takes building quality seriously, this is a reasonable place to do it.
