Full-time
On-site
Falls Church, Virginia, United States
$67,000 - $67,000 USD yearly
Maintenance Supervisor

A resident submits an urgent work order at 7 a.m. on a Monday: no heat, second floor. By 8:15, the unit is back online, the ticket is closed, and the resident has a follow-up call logged. That's the standard this role holds, and holds consistently.

The Work

Bozzuto is hiring an Assistant Maintenance Manager for their Falls Church, VA community. The role sits between hands-on technical work and team leadership, which means you'll spend part of your day in units resolving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance issues yourself, and part of it making sure the people around you are working to the same standard. The make-ready process is a core responsibility: you'll manage apartment turns with the attention to timing and detail that keeps occupancy moving and new residents moving in on schedule.

Beyond reactive maintenance, the role carries real responsibility for the building's long-term condition. Preventative maintenance programs, general upkeep, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and compliance with applicable building and safety codes all fall within your scope. You'll participate in an on-call emergency rotation and weekend availability is part of the job.

What the Role Requires

  • 5 or more years of experience in the trades, facilities, or residential building maintenance
  • Strong proficiency across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair
  • HVAC, EPA, and/or NAPE certification
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, MSDS, and risk management principles
  • Basic carpentry, drywall, and painting skills
  • Familiarity with complex mechanical systems (central plant, boilers, chillers, split systems) is a plus
  • Supervisory or leadership experience, with comfort motivating and directing others
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and general technology platforms used in property operations
  • Physical ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently, climb stairs, and work in varying outdoor conditions

The salary for this position is $67,000, with additional bonus opportunities. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 20 days of paid time off plus holidays, a 401k with company match, and tuition reimbursement.

From a career standpoint, this role is a strong platform. Assistant Maintenance Managers at companies like Bozzuto typically move into Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer positions as they build experience overseeing larger scopes, more complex mechanical systems, and bigger teams. The skills you compound here, specifically the combination of technical depth and supervisory credibility, translate directly into senior facilities roles across Class A residential, mixed-use, and commercial property management. What separates strong candidates isn't just trade certification. It's the ability to run a tight punch list, keep a team accountable without micromanaging, and treat asset preservation as a professional standard rather than a checklist.
