Assistant General Manager

Full-time
On-site
Boston, Massachusetts, United States
$68,000 - $72,000 USD yearly
Assistant Property Manager

Strong communication skills, financial awareness, and the ability to shift between leasing and leadership without losing momentum are what this role runs on. The Assistant General Manager position at Bozzuto's Boston community sits at the intersection of all three, and candidates who've only done one or two of those things well will feel the gap quickly.

What the Work Actually Looks Like

Day to day, you're covering the full range of on-site operations when the General Manager is present, and running point when they're not. That means conducting tours that convert, managing rent collection, posting receipts, and keeping delinquency tight. It also means walking the property with a critical eye, making sure the exterior and common areas hold up to a high standard, and stepping in to coach team members when the situation calls for it.

The financial side of this role is real. You'll work toward occupancy and retention goals with an understanding of how leasing activity connects to NOI. You're not just showing apartments. You're building a case for why someone should sign and stay, and then doing the follow-through that keeps them there.

Weekend availability is part of the job structure, roughly one to two weekends per month, with weekday time off in exchange. That's worth knowing upfront.

Skills This Role Puts to Work

  • Leasing and sales: conducting personalized tours, converting traffic to signed leases
  • Delinquency management: rent collection, posting receipts, tracking accounts receivable
  • Team leadership: covering GM responsibilities, mentoring staff, setting the behavioral standard
  • Resident relations: handling issues with genuine care, not just scripted responses
  • Social media: creating and posting content on platforms like Instagram and Facebook
  • Software proficiency: Yardi preferred, comfort with property management platforms generally

What Separates Strong Candidates Here

Boston's rental market is competitive, and residents at a Bozzuto community expect a certain level of attentiveness. The candidates who do well in this AGM role aren't just organized or friendly. They're the ones who notice when something's off before a resident has to say anything, who can close a lease without it feeling transactional, and who understand that delinquency follow-up and a warm resident event can both happen in the same afternoon. Experience with Yardi and a background in property management, hospitality, or retail all translate well here. A four-year degree or equivalent hands-on experience is expected.

Compensation for this role falls between $68,000 and $72,000 annually, with bonus eligibility, medical, dental and vision coverage, 20 days of paid time off plus holidays, a 401k with company match, and tuition reimbursement.
