Multifamily operators increasingly recognize that amenities alone don't retain residents. Programming does. The Activities Director role exists because a well-run events calendar directly supports occupancy: residents who feel connected to their community renew leases, refer friends, and generate the kind of organic reputation that no ad spend can replicate. CloudTen Residential, a Nevada-based company with a portfolio spanning hotel-to-residential conversions, high-rise lease-ups, and value-add repositioning across the West, is hiring for this position at Orchard Mesa in Mesa, AZ.
Working under the Community Manager, you'll own the full activities program: building a monthly calendar, writing and distributing a resident newsletter, coordinating vendors and entertainers, managing the activities budget, and supervising an Activities Assistant through event setup, execution, and breakdown. You'll design promotional materials and push programming through social media and digital communication channels. Beyond the creative side, there's real operational accountability here. You'll track income, control expenses, and handle petty cash in line with company accounting policies. Safety compliance and Fair Housing adherence are non-negotiable parts of the job, not afterthoughts.
You'll also work alongside the leasing and maintenance teams on community-wide initiatives, which means your events calendar has to fit into the broader operational rhythm of the property. When a lease-up push is underway or a capital project is disrupting amenity spaces, you adapt. That cross-functional coordination is where a lot of activities directors either grow or stall.
Pay runs $26.00 to $29.00 per hour depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, an FSA, company-paid life insurance, and paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
The candidates who tend to stand out in this role are the ones who treat resident feedback as data. Gathering post-event input, tracking participation trends, and adjusting the calendar based on what actually draws people out (versus what looks good on paper) separates a strong activities director from someone who just executes a template. If you've worked in senior living or student housing, those instincts transfer directly here.
From a career trajectory standpoint, this role builds a skill set that compounds well. Resident retention strategy, budget management, vendor relationships, cross-team collaboration, and digital communication are all transferable to community management, regional support roles, or even marketing-focused positions within a multifamily platform. CloudTen's expanding portfolio means internal movement is a realistic path for people who perform.
