Groundskeeper / Porter

The Bexley at Left Bank community in Fort Worth needs a Porter who shows up ready to work and takes real ownership of how the property looks and feels every single day. Weinstein Properties has been family-owned for over 70 years, and that history shapes how they operate: hands-on, relationship-focused, and genuinely invested in the people doing the work.

What You'll Actually Do

A typical morning starts before residents have fully left for work. You're walking the grounds, clearing litter, servicing pet waste stations, and making sure common areas are presentable before the day gets busy. From there, the work shifts depending on what the property needs: trashing out vacant units, running a backpack blower through breezeways, power washing surfaces, light painting, helping prep make-readies alongside the maintenance team, or doing general groundskeeping like weeding and planting. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, which gives you consistent hours without the on-call unpredictability that comes with a maintenance technician role.

Some of the tasks repeat daily. That's not a flaw in the job description; it's just honest. Pet waste pickup and trash walks happen every day because the property has to look good every day. The people who thrive here don't resent the repetition. They find a rhythm in it and use the independence the role gives them to stay ahead of problems rather than react to them.

The physical demands are real. You'll be on your feet outdoors all day, lifting up to 50 pounds or more, operating a golf cart and trailer, and working through Texas heat, cold snaps, and humidity alike. That context matters before you apply.

What You Bring

  • Reliability and punctuality. The maintenance and leasing teams count on you to set the tone for the property each morning.
  • A self-starting approach. There's no one standing over your shoulder with a checklist. You see what needs doing and do it.
  • Physical stamina for sustained outdoor work year-round
  • Willingness to handle tasks that aren't glamorous, including pet waste, unit cleanouts, and dirty surfaces
  • A collaborative attitude. You'll work alongside maintenance techs and interact with leasing staff. How you carry yourself with residents and teammates matters.
  • Comfort operating basic equipment like blowers and power washers (or the ability to learn quickly)

Compensation and Growth

Starting pay is $16.50 per hour, with competitive hourly rates and quarterly bonuses. There's also a $1,000 stay-on bonus available after 90 days in good standing. The recruiter can walk you through the specifics.

Worth noting on the growth side: the Porter role at Weinstein Properties is a legitimate entry point into a maintenance career. Team members who bring a good attitude and a willingness to learn have moved into maintenance technician positions. If that's a direction you want to go, this company supports it. If you just want to do solid, consistent work and be fairly compensated for it, that's valued here too.
