Grounds Person
John M. Corcoran & CompanyGrounds work at a residential property is physical, visible, and sets the first impression for every resident and prospective renter who pulls up to the community. At Weymouth Commons, John M. Corcoran and Company is hiring a Grounds Person to keep the exterior in shape year-round.
What the Work Looks Like
Most of your day runs outdoors. You're mowing, trimming, pruning, and keeping planted areas healthy. Daily trash and pet waste removal is part of the routine, not occasional. You'll also handle exterior upkeep tasks like painting touch-ups, fence repairs, and fixture installations as they come up.
Seasonally, the work shifts. Winter means snow removal and ice treatment take priority. You'll identify safety hazards as you move around the property and coordinate with vendors when a repair falls outside your scope. Light maintenance work and safety training are part of the role as well.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Pay ranges from $17.00 to $23.75 per hour, and the position includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus.
What You Need
- Hands-on experience with landscaping or grounds maintenance
- Ability to safely operate mowers, trimmers, and related equipment
- Comfortable working independently and following a daily task structure
- Basic communication skills and ability to meet standard pre-employment requirements
The Company and the Role's Upside
JMC has been operating in New England since 1951. For a company that size and age, they've kept a team culture where people tend to stay. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid time off and holidays, and a 401(k) with a company match.
Grounds roles at well-run properties are a genuine entry point into property maintenance careers. Consistent performance here builds familiarity with how a residential community operates, and that experience transfers directly into maintenance technician tracks if you want to move in that direction. Strong candidates for this role show up with good equipment habits and a consistent eye for what makes a property look cared for, not just checked off.
