This is a full-time, Monday through Friday role supporting the service team at The Slate, an Olympus Property community in Savannah, GA. Your day runs roughly 9 to 6, though emergencies don't keep a schedule, and you'll need to be available when something urgent comes up after hours. Most of your time is split between completing resident work orders and staying ahead of problems before they become bigger ones.
On any given day, that means cycling through HVAC filter changes and coil cleanings, troubleshooting a refrigerator that stopped cooling, handling a running toilet or a leaking fixture, swapping out an electrical switch, or rekeying a unit after a turn. You'll track everything through the property's maintenance software and coordinate daily priorities with the Lead Maintenance Technician. Grounds upkeep and pool maintenance are also part of the mix, so this isn't a role where you stay strictly indoors.
Savannah's coastal humidity is genuinely hard on HVAC systems and building exteriors. Technicians who understand how salt air and persistent moisture affect equipment, caulking, and HVAC performance tend to stay ahead of the preventative side of the job more naturally than those coming from drier climates. That context matters here.
Olympus Property has earned the National Apartment Association's Top Employer designation three consecutive years (2023, 2024, and 2025), which isn't something most management companies can say. The benefits package here is genuinely broad: medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer matching, tuition reimbursement, pet insurance, short and long-term disability, life insurance, paid time off, and an apartment rental allowance. There's also a sabbatical program and structured career pathing, which matters if you're thinking beyond your current title.
For a technician who wants to grow, this kind of platform can lead somewhere. Technicians who build strong HVAC and plumbing skills while developing a track record with a quality operator often move into Lead Technician or Service Manager roles within a few years. Olympus's stated commitment to internal growth and team culture suggests that path is available here, not just on paper.
If you take the work seriously, communicate well with your team, and can manage a steady volume of work orders without cutting corners on the make-ready side, this is a solid place to build your maintenance career.
