It's 7:30 AM and a resident already has a work order in for a leaking faucet. By noon, you've turned over an A/C unit, patched drywall in a vacated apartment, and fielded two calls from the on-call line the night before. That's the pace at Sonoran Apartments, a community in Phoenix managed by MG Properties.

What the Work Actually Involves

MG Properties has been acquiring, developing, and managing apartment communities across the Western U.S. for over 30 years. This technician role sits on the ground level of that operation at Sonoran, a Phoenix property where you'll handle the full range of day-to-day maintenance. That means completing resident service requests, performing apartment turns, doing appliance repairs, painting, and keeping grounds and common areas clean and presentable. You'll also rotate through on-call coverage, so after-hours emergency calls are part of the deal. Know that going in.

Phoenix summers are unforgiving. HVAC calls spike hard from May through September, and your comfort with A/C diagnosis and repair will get tested. Technicians who can triage a cooling issue quickly matter a lot to residents and to occupancy. If HVAC isn't your strongest trade, it's worth sharpening before you apply.

What You Need to Bring

  • At least 2 years of apartment maintenance experience, preferably on a property of 200 units or more
  • Working knowledge across trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs
  • A customer-facing mindset. Residents interact with maintenance more than almost anyone else on site
  • Reliable transportation. You need to get there, including for on-call shifts
  • Flexibility to work within a team and adapt when priorities shift mid-day
