Maintenance Technician

Multi-trade competency is the core skill set here. Not just the ability to fix things, but the ability to triage, prioritize, and close out work orders without constant hand-holding. At Scottsdale Horizon Apartments, MG Properties is looking for a Maintenance Technician who brings real hands-on experience across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliance repair. Two years minimum on a property of 200 units or larger is the baseline they're working from. That's not an arbitrary number. At that scale, you've seen enough volume to know how to work a board efficiently and keep turns from dragging.

Skills This Role Puts to Work Daily

Grounds and common area upkeep, service request completion, painting, and make-ready work are all part of the rotation. So is on-call coverage, which means you'll take emergency calls on your assigned nights and weekends. That's just the nature of residential maintenance. Anyone who's done it knows the on-call rotation is where you earn the trust of your team and your residents pretty quickly. Customer service isn't a soft skill here, it's operational. How you show up at a resident's door when their A/C goes out at 10 PM on a July evening in Scottsdale matters as much as whether you can fix it.

Speaking of Scottsdale in July: HVAC is not optional knowledge at this property. Arizona summers are unforgiving, and HVAC calls will dominate your board from late spring through early fall. If your A/C experience is thin, this role will expose that fast.

What Separates Strong Candidates Here

  • Genuine multi-trade experience, not familiarity with one or two disciplines and a learning attitude about the rest
  • Comfort managing a full work order board without losing track of priorities
  • The ability to communicate clearly with residents under pressure
  • Reliable transportation to get to the property and respond to on-call situations
  • Team orientation. Maintenance at a community this size is a team sport.

Working for MG Properties

MG Properties has been acquiring, developing, and managing apartment communities across the Western U.S. for over 30 years. That kind of track record in a regional operator usually means standardized processes, real support infrastructure, and a company that isn't figuring out property management as it goes. The compensation package includes monthly bonuses, profit sharing, a 401(k) with employer match, full medical, dental, and vision, and rental discounts. PTO, paid holidays, personal days, and sick time are also part of the package.

If you've got the trade skills and the temperament for residential maintenance work, this is a solid place to put them to use.
