Maintenance Technician

A resident puts in a request at 7 a.m.: the kitchen faucet has been dripping all weekend. By the time you've pulled the work order on your phone, grabbed the right parts from a stocked shop, and knocked on the door, it's 9:15 and the resident is already calling the office to say thank you. That rhythm, quick diagnosis, clean repair, satisfied resident, is what this role is built around.

The Work at Ridgeview

AIR Communities is hiring a Maintenance Technician at Ridgeview, a 320-unit luxury apartment community in Moreno Valley, CA. The compensation range runs $24.00 to $26.00 per hour based on your skills and experience, and technicians who consistently earn strong resident satisfaction scores can pick up an additional $250 per month through AIR's customer service bonus program.

Day-to-day responsibilities cover the full range of residential maintenance. You'll complete apartment turns as residents move out and new ones prepare to move in, working through make-ready punch lists to get units rent-ready. You'll handle resident service requests across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and carpentry, with the expectation that you bring proficiency in at least two of those trades. Depending on your experience level, you may also help coordinate vendor work, conduct move-in and move-out inspections, and provide informal technical guidance to newer team members. Workload and specific duties shift with the season and the community's needs, so flexibility is part of the job.

AIR uses technology to route and prioritize work orders, which keeps the day organized and reduces time spent chasing down what needs attention next. The shops are stocked and maintained so you're not hunting for parts mid-job. On-call rotation is part of the schedule, at least one week per month, and you'll need reliable transportation to respond to after-hours emergencies.

What This Role Requires

  • At least two years of maintenance experience in a facilities, building, or residential setting
  • Demonstrated skill in two or more trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, or carpentry
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
  • Physical capability to move heavy equipment and machinery as needed
  • Reliable transportation for after-hours emergency response

AIR offers a 50% rent discount at any of its communities, which is a real financial advantage if you want to live onsite at Ridgeview or at a nearby AIR property. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; HSA and FSA options; short and long-term disability paid by the company; a 401(k) with employer contribution; up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave; and tuition assistance plus full reimbursement for job-related certifications and licenses.

One thing worth noting for technicians thinking about career trajectory: AIR has a maintenance development program called Ascend that's designed around your individual path, not a generic checklist. For a technician who already has solid trade skills and wants a clear route toward a lead or service manager role, that kind of structured investment tends to matter more than it sounds on paper.

Moreno Valley's residential growth over the past several years has added significant multifamily inventory to the Inland Empire, and luxury communities in the area compete hard on resident experience. A technician who treats service quality as a point of professional pride, not just a task to close, will find that reputation travels quickly within a community like Ridgeview.
