Maintenance Technician

Maintenance techs are the operational backbone of any apartment community. When a unit sits down waiting on a repair, it's lost revenue. When a resident's A/C goes out in Phoenix in July, the clock starts immediately. MG Properties has been operating across the Western U.S. for over three decades, and they understand that a solid maintenance tech at a property like Muse Apartments isn't just fixing things. They're protecting NOI and resident retention at the same time.

What the Role Actually Involves

This is a full-trades position at Muse Apartments, a community in Phoenix. You'll handle the full spread: service requests, appliance repairs, painting, turns, grounds and common area upkeep, and participation in an on-call rotation. In Phoenix, HVAC competency isn't a nice-to-have. It's the job. Summers here are long, units are occupied, and a non-functioning A/C is an emergency by any reasonable standard. If you've worked Phoenix properties before, you already know the seasonal rhythm.

MG Properties is looking for someone with at least two years of apartment maintenance experience, preferably on a property at or above 200 units. That threshold matters because larger communities move faster. Turns stack up, service request volume is real, and you need to triage without being told to. Plumbing, electrical, and HVAC experience across all three is expected, not preferred.

What Separates Strong Candidates Here

The customer service piece isn't filler language in this posting. Resident-facing maintenance roles at managed communities carry a direct line to renewal decisions. A tech who communicates well, shows up when they say they will, and leaves a unit cleaner than they found it is genuinely rare. That combination of trade skill and resident interaction is where good techs separate from average ones. Reliable transportation is required. On-call rotation is part of the position. Both are non-negotiable, so factor that in honestly before applying.

  • Minimum two years of apartment maintenance experience, preferably 200+ unit communities
  • Proficiency across plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Comfortable with turn work: make-ready prep, punch list execution, unit inspections
  • On-call availability as part of a rotation
  • Reliable personal transportation required
  • Team-oriented with a resident-first approach to service

Compensation includes monthly bonuses, company profit sharing, a 401(k) with employer match, medical, dental, and vision coverage, PTO, paid holidays, paid sick time, and rental discounts. MG Properties is an equal opportunity employer, participates in E-Verify, and requires a background check and drug screen prior to hire.
