Maintenance Technician

A resident submits a work order at 8 a.m.: no hot water. By 9, you've diagnosed a failing heating element, sourced the part, and closed the ticket before lunch. That's the rhythm at Sherman Central, a 475-unit, 11-building community in Denver's Capitol Hill corridor where the maintenance queue moves fast and the work is genuinely varied.

What the Role Covers

RedPeak is a Denver-focused owner-operator with 24 years in this specific market, and Sherman Central sits at the heart of their portfolio. As a Maintenance Technician II, you'll carry real diagnostic responsibility across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, drywall, and painting. This isn't a role where you shadow someone else's punch list. You're the one diagnosing problems, executing repairs, and coordinating outside contractors when the scope calls for it.

Day-to-day, you'll work through service requests in Yardi, assist the Service Supervisor with scheduling and vendor oversight, and complete routine inspections of common areas and vacant units. On-call rotation is part of the deal, so emergency response comes with the territory. You'll also handle property security systems, including cameras, access controls, and lock changes, and keep detailed maintenance records that support the broader operations of the community.

The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with on-call coverage as needed. Pay ranges from $23 to $25 per hour, with monthly maintenance bonus potential on top of base.

What RedPeak Is Looking For

  • 1 to 2 years of hands-on multifamily maintenance, construction, or equivalent trade experience
  • Intermediate working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Comfort with Yardi or similar work order platforms for ticket management and inventory tracking
  • HVAC/EPA, CPO, electrical, or plumbing certifications are preferred; RedPeak covers EPA and CPO certification costs for the right candidate
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Strong communication habits, both with residents and with the maintenance team

The candidates who do well here tend to be self-directed on high-volume days. When a property spans 11 buildings and 475 units, work orders stack up quickly, and the technicians who thrive are the ones who triage efficiently, communicate proactively with residents during delays, and close tickets with durable fixes rather than temporary patches. Repeat work orders on the same unit are a signal worth watching in this environment.

Benefits include full medical, dental, and vision coverage, employer-paid short-term disability, a 401(k) with immediate vesting and company match, 16 PTO days, 13 paid holidays, a 30 percent rent discount, student debt repayment assistance, and health club reimbursement up to $75 monthly.
