Maintenance Technician
Property Management AssociatesRover technicians occupy a specific and underrated niche in multifamily maintenance. You're not tied to one property, which means you see more failure modes, more building types, and more management styles in a single year than a site-based tech might encounter in three. For someone building a career in maintenance, that breadth compounds fast.
What the Work Actually Looks Like
Property Management Associates runs a large residential portfolio across Beverly Hills and the greater Los Angeles area. In this rover role, you'll move between communities based on where support is needed, so your schedule has real variety. Most days involve a mix of work orders and make-ready work: plumbing calls, drywall patches, appliance repairs, electrical fixes, and getting units punch-list ready for incoming residents. You'll also do routine inspections, catching deferred issues before they turn into expensive problems. Parts and inventory management falls to you as well, which means staying organized and thinking ahead, not just reacting.
You'll coordinate directly with property managers at each site, which requires solid communication. Residents interact with maintenance staff more personally than with almost anyone else at a property, so professionalism on service calls matters as much as technical skill.
What You Bring
- At least three years of hands-on maintenance experience, ideally in multifamily residential settings
- Solid working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, and appliance repair
- Experience completing apartment turns and make-readies efficiently
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and the judgment to prioritize competing demands
- Comfort working independently across multiple sites with minimal supervision
- A valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance (an auto allowance is included)
- Physical capability to lift 25 to 50 pounds and stay active throughout a full workday
- High school diploma or GED
Where This Role Can Take You
Rover technicians who perform well tend to be strong candidates for Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor roles, because they've already proven they can operate across a portfolio without constant direction. Exposure to multiple property types and management teams also builds the kind of institutional knowledge that makes someone valuable in a regional maintenance capacity down the line. PMA has been operating in Southern California for over 30 years with a portfolio of thousands of residential units, so internal advancement is a realistic path rather than a talking point.
Compensation runs $24 to $26 per hour with a $300 monthly auto allowance, a $25 monthly cell phone allowance, and a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with discretionary company contribution after one year, disability coverage, and paid time off.
